Kept Hour

Six blocks. Each one is a result someone can check. Use one where the question was already asked. Spraying them is how this gets ignored.

The offer that looks like a raise

$70,000 at 40 hours keeps $26.25 an hour. $90,000 at 55 hours keeps $24.55. Same 25% tax, same 50 weeks, no commute. The salary went up. The hour went down.

Five extra hours

Five extra hours a week is 250 hours a year. That is 6.25 normal work-weeks. At $90,000 the kept hour falls from $33.75 to $30.00. The salary does not move.

The commute

A 40-minute round trip, 5 days, 50 weeks, is 167 hours. Unpaid is not the same as free. Price it at the kept hour before calling the office a perk.

The meeting series

Eight meeting hours a week is 400 hours a year. If the series produces no decision you can name, that is the number to put in the decline.

The flattering divide

Dividing a salary by 2,080 assumes 40 hours and 52 weeks. A 47-hour week for 50 weeks has already donated 350 hours before tax or the commute.

One job, one link

A software engineer at a typical $128,000 and a 45-hour week is not the LinkedIn hourly. The page has the arithmetic. Change the hours if the week is worse.

If you will not give an email

The same numbers are a public feed: feed.xml. One item per block. No list, no account.

The $39 sheet is a different action. It is not in these blocks. That page is for someone who already wants their own numbers written out.
