Kept Hour

Unpaid, not free

A 40-minute commute is 167 hours a year.

Five days, fifty weeks. That is 4.17 forty-hour weeks in a seat. At a $30 kept hour it is $5,000 of life, and it never appears on the offer. Remote is not a personality. It is this number going to zero.

The calculator stays free. The $39 sheet is a human check of the same numbers, not a locked file.

The check

20 minutes × 5 × 50 / 60 = 83.3 hours. 40 minutes is double, 166.7, which this page rounds to 167. 60 minutes is 250. 90 is 375. Dollars are those hours times the kept hour. If your hour is not $30, the calculator on this page already replaced it.

A raise that does not clear the commute can still be a cut. Price it before you celebrate the title. Five extra hours is the other quiet cut. Two offers is the reply.
